Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – Montenegrin Prime Minister Milojko Spajic and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan agreed it was essential for Montenegro’s further tourism development to improve the country’s airports.

At a meeting held at Villa Gorica, Spajic stated that completing the concession procedure was the first step towards achieving this goal.

The two officials welcomed the fact that Montenegro and UAE were connected seasonal direct flights and stressed that expanding airport capacity would make year-round connectivity possible and allow the arrival of larger wide-body aircraft.

According to them, this is in the mutual interest of both Montenegro and the UAE, as it is crucial, for the Asian market in particular, that airports operate 24 hours a day.

The talks also confirmed readiness and mutual interest to soon launch joint projects in tourism, energy, digitalization, security, and agriculture.

Al Nahyan emphasized the UAE’s readiness to provide both expert and financial support to Elektroprivreda (EPCG) in developing energy projects. This would ensure Montenegrin citizens continue to pay affordable electricity prices, while also enabling the development of data centres, fintech, and artificial intelligence, where low-cost energy is a key driver of competitiveness.
