Traditional products such as babic and truffle zacusca, to be promoted at Slow Food fair in Turin

The Slow Food Buzau organization will promote the county at this year’s edition of the largest specialized fair – Terra Madre, which will take place in Turin, Italy, at the end of September.

Slow Food Buzau announced on Friday that it will be represented at this event through a stand where traditional products such as babic (traditional Romanian salami, a raw-dried sausage hailing from Buzau County, editor’s note), truffle zacusca (a vegetable spread made primarily from roasted eggplant and red peppers, editor’s note) and craft beer can be found.

The event will take place between September 26-30 and brings together participants from all corners of the world. Promoted as an alternative to fast food, the Slow Food concept promotes the preservation of traditional and regional cuisine and encourages the cultivation of plants, seeds and animals characteristic of the local ecosystem.

“Slow Food Buzau will have a shared stand where the products and services of its members will be presented. At the stand, visitors can discover traditional products such as babic, but also innovative products from Buzau, including mead, craft beer or truffle zacusca. In addition, organic wine tastings from Dealu Mare will also take place. An important point will be the presentation of Buzau as a Slow Travel tourism destination, focusing on the combination of hiking, cycling and tasting culinary products in the Buzau land UNESCO Global Geopark UNESCO and in the Dealu Mare region,” shows the cited source.

On the occasion of the culinary fair held in Italy, Romanians from the diaspora will have the opportunity to taste some of the traditional Romanian products.

“The goal is to attract international tourists to Buzau, offering them an authentic and sustainable experience. We are also specifically addressing the Romanian diaspora, inviting them to rediscover the tastes and traditions of home…,” said Thorsten Kirschner, the spokesperson of Slow Food Buzau.

Slow Food Buzau is an initiative dedicated to promoting local products, culinary traditions and sustainable tourism in Buzau county.
