Tourism Minister: Albania popular destination in autumn, around 9 million foreign tourists since January

The Minister of Tourism and Environment Mirela Kumbaro released data on number of international tourist arrivals in October, underlining that Albania remains a popular destination for foreign visitors in autumn too.

 The influx of inbound foreign tourists to Albania is pursuing an upward trend in autumn too as a total of 691,000 foreign tourists visited the country last month alone, up by 89% compared to the same period of the previous year.

A total of 8.98 million foreign tourists have visited Albania since January this year, registering an increase by 32% compared to the same period of 2022, when the country reached a record high of foreign visitors, according to the Tourism Minister Mirela Kumbaro.

Kumbaro also said that 70% to 80% of hotel capacities have been already booked.

Tourism Minister underlined that Albanian capital has also become a top tourist destination, “a sort of modern architectural laboratory, also full of youth energies, sports and cultural events.

Kumbaro added that cultural tourism, the tourism of adventure and agritourism also experienced an exponential growth this year.

The UNWTO World Tourism Barometer, a regular tracker of short-term tourism trends providing updated insights into international tourism, has positioned Albania in the third spot globally and first in Europe for the influx of international visitors, up by 56%, for period spanning January to July 2023.
