ZAGREB, 22 Aug (Hina) – The Croatian Veterinary Institute reported on Friday that, as of 22 August, a total of 204 samples from deceased livestock had been received, of which 160 were processed and of these, 109 tested positive for anthrax.
Among the positive samples, there were 98 head of cattle, two goats, seven sheep, one fawn, and one donkey. The affected animals came from eight municipalities in the Dalmatian Zagora region.
Out of the total samples received, 51 tested negative, while 44 were deemed unsuitable for bacteriological testing due to advanced decomposition, the Institute concluded.
