Three patrol boats for Cypriot police built by Pula-based Tehnomont

ZAGREB, 4 Aug (Hina) – Three patrol boats, worth €7.5 million, which were built by the Pula shipyard Tehnomont for the Cyprus Port & Marine Police, were presented in the Istrian city on Friday.
The vessels are intended for patrolling and rescue operations in an area up to 150 nautical miles from the coast of Cyprus, and the specifics include high speed and a low noise level, only 65 decibels at maximum speed.
“The ships are equipped with state-of-the-art navigation and communication equipment, one of which is the FLIR thermal camera with excellent characteristics. The thermal camera can detect a person at a distance of 5,000 meters, and a boat at twice that distance,” said technical director of Tehnomont Niko Skala.
In attendance at the presentation of the boat were Tehnomont Management Board member Gordana Deranja and Istria County Prefect Boris Miletić.
Tehnomont is currently building two firefighting vessels for Greece.
