The University of Prishtina “Hasan Prishtina” has launched the action plan for gender equality 2023-2026. The same was said to eliminate inequality in academic life, have inclusiveness and fight stereotypes.
The rector of the University of Prishtina, Qerim Qerimi, said that the inclusion of women in management positions in UP is of particular importance.
He added that the commitment to gender equality extends to the essential part of the curriculum so that gender equality and diversity are integrated as essential values of educational programs.
The approval of this action plan was welcomed by the Minister of Education, Arbërie Nagavci, who said that it will improve the approach to achieving gender equality at the University of Prishtina.
“The road to gender equality in our society is closer than ever before, although we are still far from the ideal and what we want. This action plan aims to improve the approach to achieving gender equality at the University of Pristina… As the Government of the Republic of Kosovo, in our efforts to build a new reality, we have continued with a series of affirmative measures which we believe will help in terms of achieving equality. I am only mentioning some measures of the Ministry of Education, where through scholarships worth 1 million euros to motivate girls and women to continue their studies in STEM fields”, said Nagavci.
On the other hand, the ambassador of Sweden in Kosovo, Jonas Ústerlund, said that this initiative marks a very big effort to achieve gender equality in academic life.
The drafting of this plan was done in cooperation between the Agency for Gender Equality within the Office of the Prime Minister and the University of Prishtina “Hasan Prishtina”.
