Tulcea, Nov 27 /Agerpres/ – The Permanent Representative of Romania to the Council of Europe is promoting the Danube Delta in the events it is organizing, starting Wednesday, on the occasion of the National Day, with Ambassador Ion Jinga praising the Danube Delta as “a fabulous part of eternal Romania”.
The Council of Europe will host a screening of the documentary film “Wild Danube” by journalist and producer Charlie Ottley, which captures the Romanian Delta in its four seasons and presents the area’s biodiversity and communities. The British producer will talk to Ivan Patzaichin, the legendary Romanian canoeist born in the village of Mila 23.
“For the National Day celebration, we thought that, in addition to the official reception that the Permanent Representation of Romania to the Council of Europe will organize on December 3, the most appropriate would be to bring a corner of Romania to Strasbourg. And, because ‘a picture is worth a thousand words’, we have chosen the documentary film ‘Wild Danube’, which speaks in eloquent images about a unique place in Europe and a fabulous part of eternal Romania, the Danube Delta. ‘Wild Danube’ is a gateway to paradise, a film that captures the grandeur of an ecosystem unique in the world and presents Romania’s nature, traditions and exceptional heritage, which deserve to be preserved in all their splendor for the benefit of future generations,” Permanent Representative of Romania to the Council of Europe in Strasbourg Ion Jinga told AGERPRES.
The travel documentaries created by Charlie Ottley promote Romania and were screened during meetings organized by the Romanian diplomat during his missions.
“In 2017, as Romania’s ambassador to the UN, I invited Charlie to present the fourth episode of ‘Wild Carpathia’ in New York, in the UN Economic and Social Council room, in front of ambassadors from around the world. We are doing the same today [Wednesday] with ‘Wild Danube’ at the Council of Europe, the organization that sets and monitors standards of democracy, the rule of law and human rights,” said Ion Jinga .
In his turn, producer Charlie Ottley felt honoured by the invitation to present the beauty and complexity of the Danube Delta in Romania, Europe’s Amazon, to the Council of Europe, on Romania’s National Day and appreciated the importance of tourism for the sustainable development of rural areas.
