The best-selling books of 2024

The Whole-Brain Child” by Daniel Siegel was the best-selling book of the past year, according to Dukagjini Bookstore in Pristina.

It is followed by “No Meeting Is a Coincidence” by Hakan Menguç, “Meditations” by Marcus Aurelius, and “White Nights” by Fyodor Dostoevsky.

These are the four most requested book titles among 50,000 titles at this bookstore.

Zgjim Sherifi from Dukagjini Bookstore highlights several factors that influence the higher sales of these titles.

Sherifi explains that the age group of young people dominates book purchases the most, in contrast to adults.

The same opinion is shares Artin Ahmeti, the manager of Artini Bookstore. His bookstore has over 15,000 titles, mostly with historical and psychological content.

At their bookstore, the most requested book was “King of Albania,” a book by the foreign author Clement Moore dedicated to Gjergj Kastrioti. He also mentions that after the death of an author, the wealth of their writings becomes more sought after.

Except historical books, the following places are dominated by psychological books and novels. Colleen Hoover is one of the most requested authors at Ahmeti’s bookstore. He also mentioned a new translation of the author Stefan Zweig.

Ahmeti explains that digitalization also influences book sales. “After watching the adapted movie, readers want to read the published version as well.”

Just like Sherifi, Ahmeti also discusses the use of technology in the world of books. What they initially thought would be their “enemy” has turned out to be more beneficial than they expected.
