Steiner: Police delivers tangible and measurable results in fight against crime

Podgorica, (MINA) – The Police Administration plays an important role in meeting Montenegro’s obligations under negotiation chapters 23 and 24, delivering visible and measurable results in the fight against crime, said Austrian Ambassador in Podgorica, Christian Steiner.

Together with acting Chief of the Police Administration Lazar Scepanovic and IOM program manager Tanja Ostojic, Steiner attended the closing ceremony of the training course on stolen vehicles and search techniques, held in Herceg Novi, with the financial support of IOM and the EU Delegation in Montenegro.

During the ceremony, Scepanovic pointed out that the police is cooperating intensively with the security services of Austria, focusing on the information exchange and the implementation of joint activities in the fight against organized crime, high-risk criminal groups, international drug smuggling, illegal migration and other forms of serious and organized crime.

Steiner said that Austria supports Montenegro on its path to the EU and that in meeting the requirements in Chapters 23 and 24, the Police Administration plays an important role, delivering visible and measurable results in the fight against crime.

“He expressed his satisfaction with the excellent cooperation with the Montenegrin police, not only with the Austrian police, but also with the police organizations across the region and the EU”, the press release says.
