Savings for Montenegrin companies thanks to the SEPA system

Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – Nelt MNE, a company primarily involved in importing and distributing consumer goods, will save as much as one-third of the money it spends on payment transactions next year thanks to the SEPA system.

The company’s Finance Director Maja Sekulic stated that most of their transactions involve international payments.

“By analyzing payment transactions for the first ten months of this year, we recorded around €55 million in outflows abroad, of which as much as 75 percent went to countries that already have the SEPA system implemented,” Sekulic said.

For the company, this means a significant reduction in payment-transaction costs, so while preparing the budget for next year, they projected an optimization of payment-transaction expenses in this segment alone by around 30 percent.

The Ministry of European Affairs reminded that Montenegro has been a member of SEPA since 7 October.

SEPA is a single market for euro payments in which citizens, businesses, and public institutions can carry out cashless transactions in euros.

The functioning of the SEPA system in Montenegro is one of the key benefits of the negotiation process and the Western Balkans Growth Plan, specifically in the field of strengthening economic integration with the EU single market.
