Rome’s La Sapienza University of Rome has ranked the best university in the world for classics and ancient history for the sixth consecutive year, according to the prestigious QS World University Rankings by Subject 2026 report.

Europe’s largest university scored 99.1 in this subject.

Italy is third among EU countries in terms of the number of ranked universities, behind France and Germany.
