Rome transport staff are to wear bodycams and use panic buttons amid a wave of attacks by bus users, officials said Monday.
The relevant protocol was signed by Rome Mayor Roberto Gualtieri,, Prefect Lamberto Giannini and Lazio Governor Francesco Rocca as well as the heads of local transport companies and sector union chiefs.
Assaults on staff in the Italian capital have risen lately.
There has also been a rise in attacks on rail staff nationwide, and a strike was called last week after a ticket inspector was stabbed near Genoa.
