The Romanian Embassy in Washington is organizing for the 4th consecutive year, from July 7 to 13, a series of events aimed at marking the anniversary of the Strategic Partnership between Romania and the United States of America, the Romanian Embassy in the U.S. informed in a release.
“This week, in Washington, we celebrate the Strategic Partnership between Romania and the United States of America – an essential pillar of Romanian foreign policy and a guarantee of security, prosperity and democracy in the region. The events we are organizing reflect the joint commitment to strengthening our bilateral relationship and to promoting the values that unite us. It is a moment to reaffirm the friendship between our nations,” said the Romanian ambassador to Washington Andrei Muraru, as quoted in the release.
On July 8, Muraru is scheduled to participate in a working lunch with American companies and representatives of the federal government, for the economic promotion of Romania.
On July 10, the Embassy will organize the second edition of the annual reception marking the Friendship Day between Romania and the United States of America, which will be attended by numerous representatives of the U.S. administration, the diplomatic corps accredited to Washington, the U.S. Congress, the business environment, the American associative environment, think-tanks, and the Romanian community.
On Friday, July 11, the prestigious American think-tank Heritage Foundation will host a debate on the future of the Romania-U.S. Strategic Partnership, an event that will address the themes of a solid partnership in the field of security and defence, as well as the evolving cooperation in the energy, trade and business sectors, with an emphasis on Romania’s role in the Black Sea region.
The week will end with the 4th edition of the largest Romanian festival in the United States, titled “Romanian Weekend at The Wharf” which invites, over July 11 – 13, American citizens and members of the Romanian-American community to enjoy folk dance performances and live concerts, demonstrations of traditional crafts, interactive workshops, tourist presentations, culinary and wine tastings and shows. The event takes place on Washington’s waterfront esplanade The Wharf, in a very popular leisure area, located on the banks of the Potomac River, not far from the Capitol.
Launched on July 11, 1997, during the visit of U.S. President Bill Clinton to Bucharest, the Strategic Partnership between Romania and the United States is currently defined as one of the fundamental pillars of Romania’s foreign policy and remains a landmark in Romania’s Euro-Atlantic journey over the last quarter of a century, the Romanian Embassy in Washington said, noting also that in 2023, July 11 became the Romania – U.S. Friendship Day.
