Romania has over 200 certified ski slopes

Romania has over 200 certified ski slopes, with various levels of difficulty, suitable for both beginners who are just about to fall in love with winter sports and for more experienced skiers, writes the Ministry of Economy, Entrepreneurship and Tourism (MEAT) in a post on its official Facebook page on Saturday.

“Because winter has already made its presence felt, and the holiday season is approaching, many tourists are heading towards mountain resorts. Preparations have already begun, and in some resorts in the Prahova Valley, artificial snowmaking systems have already been activated for snow lovers. Skiing, snowboarding, tubing, or tobogganing – winter sports enthusiasts have dedicated areas for each of these activities, depending on their preferences,” the post reads.

The Ministry of Economy, Entrepreneurship and Tourism points out that, through the Tourism Investment Master Plan, initiated in 2009 and continued by the MEAT, 16 investments have been financed and completed, with allocated funds exceeding 660 million lei.

Thus, 42 ski slopes have been developed, most of them in Hunedoara County (14), Brasov County (6), and Harghita County (5), along with six connecting slopes, all in Brasov County.

Additionally, eight chairlifts have been installed in Hunedoara (2), Brasov (2), Valcea (1), Harghita (1), Bihor (1), and Prahova (1) counties, four ski lifts in Valcea (2), Hunedoara (1), and Harghita (1) counties, five new gondolas in Hunedoara (2), Suceava (1), Valcea (1), and Maramures (1), as well as a conveyor belt transport system in Prahova County.
