Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – After a meeting with European Commissioner for Transport Adina Valean in Brussels, Minister of Transport and Maritime Affairs Filip Radulovic has said that regional connectivity of the Western Balkan countries is necessary for the competitiveness of domestic economies.
“Montenegro needs to further open up to Europe, which requires investments in road and rail infrastructure,” said Radulovic.
It was concluded at the meeting that it was necessary to tap the underused potential of the Port of Bar.
“We have received assurance that experts from the European Commission are at our disposal regarding the further of negotiations under Chapters 14 and 21, related to the transport sector,” Radulovic stated.
According to a press release issued by the Ministry, Radulovic stated that the meeting with Commissioner Valean concluded his first official visit to Brussels, which also included meetings with European Commissioner for Enlargement Oliver Varhelyi, Director-General of DG Reform Mario Nava, and Director-General of DG Move Magda Kopczynska.
Radulovic discussed future investment projects with Head of Unit D2 for Montenegro and Serbia Michael Miller, as well as with Head of Unit D5 for the Western Balkans Regional Programmes and Economic Investment Plan at the European Commission Holger Schroeder.
