TIRANA, March 1 /ATA/ -By Maela Marini/ Prime Minister Edi Rama stated on Friday that “Albania is strategically positioned on the path of the Transadriatic gas pipeline, which is a vital connection in the Southern Gas Corridor.

Prime Minister Rama was invited as a guest of honor by President Ilham Aliyev to address the 10th Summit of the Southern Gas Corridor in Baku, Azerbaijan.

Rama underlined that “Albania relies 100% on renewable energy, which are currently hydro sources, but seeks to diversify energy sources.

The Prime Minister focused on the progress of joint projects in the field of energy, where the study on gasification of the Korça area is now ready, as the first step in the program of advancing the gas use in Albania.

In addition, Rama emphasized that the study on the pipeline connecting TAP with the Vlora Thermal Power Plant is nearing completion, while the investment for the setting to operation and capacity expansion of the latter is well underway.

Albania and Azerbaijan will further develop projects of common interest, as part of a friendship and partnership that will only strengthen every step of the way, said Rama.
