Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – At the end of September, Montenegro’s total public debt amounted to € 4.46 billion, or 60.19 percent of the gross domestic product (GDP).
“Taking into account the Ministry of Finance deposits, including 38,480 ounces of gold, Montenegro’s net public debt amounted to €3.85 billion or 51.86 percent of GDP at the end of September,” the Ministry of Finance stated in a report on state and public debt.
According to the Ministry of Finance, deposits amounted to €617.94 million at the end of September, including 38,450 ounces of gold, which was valued at €90.69 million, or 8.33 percent of GDP.
“At the end of September, the total government debt amounted to €4.4 billion, or 59.36 percent of GDP. Taking into account the deposits, the total net government debt was €3.78 billion, or 51.03 percent of GDP at the end of September,” the report states.
According to data provided by local administration, their combined debt reached €61.82 million or 0.83 percent of GDP at the end of September.
Montenegro’s total external debt amounted to EUR 4.05 billion, or 54.55 percent of GDP at the end of September, which is €45.25 million less than on 30 June. The decrease in external debt during the third quarter is due to regular repayments.
At the end of September, Montenegro’s domestic debt amounted to €356.48 million, or 4.81 percent of GDP, which is €30.2 million less than on 30 June.
