In honor of the birthday of our national hero, Gjergj Kastrioti-Skanderbeg, on May 6, a celebration will be held in “Skanderbeg” and “Mother Teresa” squares in Prishtina.

The celebration is being organized by the non-governmental organization “Shqiptaria”, together with other organizations and activists. There are expected to be thousands of participants from Albania, Macedonia, Montenegro, Presheva, Medvegja and Bujanoc, Thessaloniki and even Arberia in Italy.

According to Basri Beka from the non-governmental organization “Shqiptaria”, this event will contain scientific activities and an artistic and cultural program.

“On the occasion of the birthday of our national hero Gjergj Kastrioti-Skanderbeg, the association “Shqiptaria”, together with other similar associations, we are organizing the manifestation on the occasion of the birthday of Gjergj Kastrioti-Skanderbeg on May 6, where there will be a manifestation, a great cultural-artistic program, this will also be preceded by scientific symposiums and we are honored to mark this day, which ennobles us as a people”, said Beka.

As for the organization of all this, Qendrim Kryeziu, said that it is expected to be an event with massive participation from all the regions where Albanians are located. According to him, it is expected that the squares will be filled with more than 100 thousand people.

“We expect over 100,000 participants, from the Arbereshe of Italy(Albanians of Italy), coming from Athens, from Thessaloniki, from the city of Arta… and from the cities of Struga, Gjirokastra, Lushnja, Vlora… from Lezha, Shkodra and Kosovo”, emphasized Kryeziu.

Meanwhile, if there will be participants from the political field, Raif Gashi from the “Borders of Arbër” association, has stated that politicians in general are not very interested in the nation, because their attention goes more to votes.

“(People form) the political area are only interested in votes, they don’t think about the nation, they don’t think about that, they only think about money, so let Arberians only think about that,” added Gashi.

For Veton Gusina from “Artist for the artist”, there are indications from some groups of individuals for harassment of the Albanian identity in all Albanian territories.

“There are currents that try to disturb our national identity, it is he who founded it that can do that, it is Skanderbeg, where we submit to the flag, our tribes submit to that flag and create this Albanian identity” Gusia expressed.

This celebration will start from 13:00 in “Skanderbeg” and “Mother Teresa” square, where the Kosovo Security Force and the Kosovo Police are expected to march.
