Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) –Minister of Economic Development Nik Gjeloshaj has announced that the Government decided today to extend the price capping campaign until April 30.
“The prices of the same products as under the current campaign, which ends tomorrow, will be reduced,” said Gjeloshaj at a press conference after the Cabinet meeting.
He explained that the goal of the price camping campaign, which began on September 6, is to stop the rise in prices of basic food items.
“All statistics shows that there has been no inflation in the previous period and that prices are stable,” said Gjeloshaj.
He added that they conducted a survey, which showed that most of the discounted products in Montenegro were much cheaper than in Serbia or Croatia.
In response to a question about support for the boycott of stores announced for tomorrow, Gjeloshaj said he supported the purchase of domestic products in stores in Montenegro and called on the businesses to follow the Ministry’s programme aimed to promoting domestic production and developing competitiveness.
“Citizens have the right to boycott. Montenegro is a democratic country, and we are here to implement the guaranteed rights for all,” said Gjeloshaj.
