PM Mitsotakis: With the improvements at the Kipi Border Station, Greece will have the exit and entry point to Turkiye it deserves
“ With the construction of works for the upgrade and expansion of the Kipi Border Station in Evros, and later the construction of the new large bridge, we will have the entry and exit point to and from Turkiye that our country deserves,” stressed Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis during a visit to the work site for the improvement and expansion of the facilities on Wednesday. Mitsotakis noted that “ the truth is that the current picture presented by the Border Station does not do us credit as a country.”
The prime minister was briefed on the progress of the works – which are advancing according to schedule – by the Secretary of the Decentralized Administration of Macedonia-Thrace, Dimitris Galamatis, and his associates. The budget for the project amounts to 13 million euros in total and is funded by the Ministry of the Interior, with the Decentralized Administration of Macedonia-Thrace overseeing its implementation.
The project will separate passenger traffic from commercial crossings. An additional customs control lane will be created, and new facilities will be constructed, including a veterinary inspection building, a phytosanitary inspection building, an X-ray building, a Narcotics Control building, a working dog unit, and ISOBOX units for customs inspections.
