ZAGREB, 15 Jan (Hina) – Prime Minister Andrej Plenković said in parliament on Monday that since 2016 when the defense outlays stood at €500 million, the allocation for that purpose has increased to nearly €1.2 billion in this year’s budget.
Asked by Davor Dretar of the Homeland Movement (DP) during Question Time about the government’s plans for boosting the readiness of the Croatian Armed Forces to respond to threats and risks having in mind the developments and security situation in Europe and in Croatia’s neighborhood, Plenković informed the MP about an increase in the defense budget.
This increase shows that defense and security are our priority, Plenković said underscoring that all the segments of the armed forces would be further equipped and strengthened.
We will also try to attract young people to choose military careers, the premier added.
