Plevris to ANA-MPA: It is very important that there is now a perception in Europe of a tough migration policy
The Minister of Μigration and Asylum, Thanos Plevris, participated on Saturday in Rome in a public debate organized at the “Atreju” festival of the “Brothers of Italy” party, of Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.
The debate was also attended by the Italian Minister of the Interior, Matteo Piantedozi, the MP of the “Brothers of Italy” party, Sara Kelani and, via video link, the European Commissioner for Home Affairs and Migration, Magnus Brunner.
Referring to Europe’s migration policy, Plevris underlined in a statement to ANA-MPA:
“It is very important that now, in Europe, there is a perception of a tough migration policy, because the discussions now concern prevention at the borders, the creation of return centers in third countries, safe third countries and, of course, the regulation of deportations. It is now clear that we are entering a Europe that wants to protect itself and the only possibility for someone to come to Europe will be the legal route and not the blackmail of the rings.”
