Papastavrou: National Marine Parks concern environmental protection and constitute an exercise of sovereignty

Minister of Environment and Energy, Stavros Papastavrou, attended the presentation event of the “Amorgorama” program, with Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis as a keynote speaker.

During his speech, Papastavrou referred to the 4 pillars on which “Amorgorama” is based, saying that “it is science, as everything we do must be founded on documented knowledge, the fishermen themselves, the people who live from and in the sea, who love it above all, who advocate self-management in terms of collectivity, civil society, who was there from the very beginning, especially in the first steps, as well as the State, both at the government and local government levels.”

The Minister of Environment and Energy pointed out that the creation of National Marine Parks is a first priority for the government, “which not only concern environmental and cultural protection, but also constitute an exercise of sovereignty.”
