Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – Governor of the Central Bank (CBCG) Irena Radovic and Eurostat Director-General Mariana Kotzeva have agreed that high-quality, reliable statistics are crucial for formulating policies that yield concrete and measurable results, emphasizing the need for continuous improvement.
According to a press release issued by the CBCG, they also highlighted the importance of official statistics for Montenegro’s EU accession negotiation process.
Radovic and Kotzeva concluded that producing internationally comparable statistics, methodologically aligned with EU standards, is essential to supporting the integration process.
Radovic said that CBCG was working intensively to align its statistical standards with EU requirements, including those of Eurostat and the European Central Bank.
“The CBCG’s priority is to ensure that its data is internationally comparable and relevant to national economic policies and strategic plans,” said Radovic.
Kotzeva applauded the CBCG’s efforts to enhance data quality and integrity, noting that the dedication and close collaboration among Monstat, the CBCG, and the Ministry of Finance were key for Montenegro’s integration into the European statistical framework and, ultimately, into the EU.
“The two officials agreed to establish closer cooperation aimed at further developing Montenegro’s official statistics in order accelerate the pre-accession process,” the CBCG stated.
