Nicosia included for the first time in the smart cities index report

Nicosia has been included for the first time in the smart cities index report.
According to the IMD Smart City Index 2023, it was ranked 117th out of 141 smart cities. It received a CC grade for the “Structures” pillar and a C grade for “Technologies”.
A Nicosia Municipality press release said that notable points from the research for Nicosia include the high priority given to road congestion, reaching a percentage of 67.2%. This is followed by housing at 51.3% and corruption with safety in third and fourth place at 45.4%.
In the “Structures” pillar of the Health & Safety category, 69.5% of citizens consider the coverage of sanitation needs in the poorest areas significant, and 47.1% consider recycling services important. Public safety follows at 48.3%. In the Mobility sector, 13.0% responded that traffic congestion is not a problem, and 15.3% find public transportation satisfactory.
The Smart City project is being implemented within the framework of the “THALEIA 2021-2027” Cohesion Policy Programme co-funded by the EU.
