Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – According to Bogdan Djuraskovic of the National Parks of Montenegro (NPCG), around 700,000 tourists have visited national parks this year, more than in the previous record-setting years.
He stated in a press release that this clearly reflects the progress made in the previous period and responsible approach to managing the national parks.
Djuraskovic said that the Durmitor National Park had been visited by just under 300,000 tourists since the beginning of the year.
In the same period, Biogradska gora was visited by nearly 100,000 tourists, while Prokletije saw around 40,000 tourist arrivals.
The press release stated that the Lovcen and Lake Skadar national parks had been visited by over 105,000 and 150,000 tourists, respectively.
“This encourages us to develop a strategy for extension of the season by introducing a wider palette of attractive amenities, enticing the visitors to stay longer,” said Djuraskovic.
He added that the current tourist products would be enhanced on the basis of a sustainable visitor management strategy, which will eliminate the risk of negative impact on biodiversity, while securing visitors’ loyalty and satisfaction.
