Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – According to preliminary statistics released by Monstat, Montenegro saw a total of 2.6 million tourist arrivals last year, which resulted in 15.59 million overnight stays.
“Of the total number of overnight stays, foreign tourists accounted for 96.1 percent and domestic ones for 3.9 percent,” stated a press release issued by Monstat.
The largest number of overnight stays were recorded by tourists from Serbia (23.5 percent), Russia (18.3 percent), Bosnia and Herzegovina (8.4 percent), Turkey (4.9 percent), Germany (4.7 percent), Ukraine (4.3 percent), and the United Kingdom (3.8 percent).
Tourists from other countries accounted for 32.1 percent of overnight stays.
“According to types of tourist destinations, the largest number of overnight stays was recorded in coastal destinations (93.8 percent), followed by mountain destinations (2.2 percent), the capital city (2.6 percent), and other destinations (1.5 percent),” the press release states.
