Podgorica, (MINA) – The opening of the Embassy of Montenegro in Bern confirms the strong relations with Switzerland and is a clear expression of Montenegro’s commitment to strengthening cooperation and political dialogue with that country, Minister of Foreign Affairs Ervin Ibrahimovic said at the opening ceremony.
According to a press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ibrahimovic said that Montenegro highly values its long-standing friendly ties with Switzerland and is grateful for that country’s continuous support for Montenegro’s foreign policy priorities and reform process.
“The opening of the Embassy in Bern is a clear and tangible expression of our commitment to further strengthening bilateral cooperation in numerous areas, as well as maintaining a continuous, direct and constructive political dialogue between Montenegro and Switzerland”, said Ibrahimovic.
According to the press release, as part of his visit to Switzerland, Ibrahimovic discussed improving political dialogue, strengthening bilateral cooperation and the further development of economic relations with the country’s Vice President and and Head of Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, Ignazio Cassis.
“It was also pointed out that economic cooperation is the most dynamic area of bilateral relations, as evidenced by the fact that Switzerland has been among the largest foreign investors in Montenegro during the past five years”, the press release said.
Ibrahimovic emphasized that shared values are also reflected in Switzerland’s strong support for Montenegrin reforms.
