Mitsotakis presents myStreet application – “It will bring order to our streets and squares”

The MyStreet application, a modern digital tool that enables citizens to contribute to the preservation of legality and transparency in public spaces, was presented on Wednesday at a meeting led by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis at the Maximos Mansion.

“Just as it happened with MyCoast, which brought order to our beaches, I am sure that MyStreet will also bring order to our streets and squares,” Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said during the presentation.

Mitsotakis stressed that in order to complete all the steps required for MyStreet to become fully operational, the cooperation of all municipalities is required, by integrating the relevant data into the digital platform. Mitsotakis noted that mayors would also benefit politically if they sided with the majority of citizens who demand access to public space and added that this specific application would bring order to the streets.

“Citizens now have the ability to determine in real time whether something is happening and file a complaint if they believe that there is an illegal encroachment on public space,” the prime minister explained.

Mitsotakis also said that MyStreet “is an application that, as we have seen, enables any citizen, as well as municipal employee, municipal police officer, to determine at any time whether a public space has been granted and to what extent legally or if there has been any violation of these, which, unfortunately, we often see in our cities, but also in our tourist destinations.”
