Premier Giorgia Meloni called for the United Nations Security Council to be overhauled in her address to the General Assembly in New York overnight.
“Italy supports the need for a reform of the Security Council that makes it more representative, transparent and effective,” she said.
“(A reform) that ensures it has a fairer geographical distribution of seats and strengthens regional representation too.
“(A reform) that leaves behind the structure locked to the outcome of a conflict that ended 80 years ago, in another century, another millennium, in order to give everyone the chance to prove their worth in the present”.
