Kosovo and Luxembourg sign a memorandum of understanding to support the private sector
The Minister of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade, Rozeta Hajdari together with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Trade Exchange and Humanitarian Action Cooperation of Luxembourg, Xavier Bettel signed a memorandum of understanding for two funds for the support of the private sector. The agreement was reached after the meeting Bettel had with Deputy Prime Minister Besnik Bislimi.
After signing this memorandum, Bislimi said that with this agreement they intend to support the local private sector to promote innovation and help achieve the objectives of sustainable development.
“Today’s meetings and discussions were another confirmation of our commitment to deepening relations and expanding opportunities for cooperation in areas of common interest… Through various financial projects, Luxembourg has so far invested around 100 million euros in the Republic of Kosovo, thus contributing to our economic and social development and progress. Today, Deputy Prime Minister Bettel and Minister of MIET, Hajdari, just signed the memorandum of understanding for two funds to support the private sector. These two funds aim to support the local private sector to promote innovation and help achieve sustainable development objectives. The development of an innovation ecosystem with the support of Luxembourg offers our businesses and entrepreneurs the tools they need to keep up with the times in the digital era”, said Bislimi.
On the other hand, Bettel said that this agreement is an investment for the young people of Kosovo to see the potential and be part of it.
“This agreement between us is not something new, but the fact that we can also have new sectors with the private sector… I can say that it is not an expense, it is an investment in people, in the future, it is an investment to have opportunities as a Kosovar, as the young people of Kosovo, to see the potential and to be part of this potential”, said Bettel.
Bettel is on an official visit to Kosovo, where he first met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, Donika Gërvalla. Whereas, after this meeting, Bettel also met with President Vjosa Osmani.
