TIRANA, July 17 /ATA/ The weekend in Korça was dominated by the rhythms and atmosphere of jazz and blues music. Artists and groups, from within the country but mainly from other countries, gathered in the Old Bazaar of Korça, in the light of the Gjon Mili Jazz & Blues Festival, enlivening the city and cheering up its many visitors.
The “Gjon Mili, Jazz & Blues Festival” staged a fantastic evening in the Old Bazaar of Korça on Sunday.
This festival that promotes the figure of Gjon Mili, the world-famous photographer from Korça, is making its comeback to Korça,” the mayor of Korça, Sotiraq Filo said.
“Gjon Mili Jazz & Blues Festival” aims to promote the figure of Gjon Mili, as the only connecting bridge that the Albanian nation has with the world history of Jazz and Blues music, incorporating it in the Cultural and Artistic Heritage of Albania.
As an amateur musician who played the oboe, Gjon Mili had a special connection with Jazz music and managed to document its two most important periods: the Swing period and the Modern Jazz period, when musicians began to play mainly for artistic purposes.
In this second edition of the “Gjon Mili” Festival, the artists first performed in Tirana, at the installation “Reja” and then at the “Old Bazaar” in Korça.
