Konjufca after the meeting with Nussbaumer: Serbia should be seen as a danger for stability in the Balkans
Serbia should be seen as a danger not only for Kosovo, but for the entire stability and peace in the Western Balkans, said the Speaker of the Assembly of Kosovo, Glauk Konjufca.
Speaker Konjufca made these statements after the meeting with the president of the Swiss National Council, Eric Nussbaumer.
Konjufca said that one inevitable topic was security in Kosovo and the dangers we face due to territorial claims.
“If Serbia is left unpunished regarding the terrorist aggression in Banjska, which was committed in September last year, Serbia has to repeat this act, but on a much larger scale. As one of the countries that has not supported the sanctioning of Russia in the face of the war of aggression against Ukraine and continues to cultivate military cooperation with Russia, Serbia should be seen as a danger not only in Kosovo but for the entire stability and peace in the Western Balkans,” said the Speaker of the Assembly Glauk Konjufca.
The Speaker of the Assembly Glauk Kojufca also said that Switzerland’s contribution was very early and included all the segments in which Kosovo has needed as a state.
“For Kosovo, Switzerland is more than a friend or ally. For many citizens of Kosovo, Switzerland is also a second homeland, they found political shelter and socio-economic support for their family and since then they never forgot Kosovo but worked and contributed to the liberation and construction of Kosovo”, said Konjufca.
Also the president of the Swiss National Council, Eric Nussbaumer, said that Switzerland is a constant supporter of Kosovo, while he said that they are engaged in the field of security in Kosovo and the region, having, according to him, more than 200 thousand Swiss soldiers in KFOR.
“Switzerland is a constant supporter of Kosovo and was among the first countries to recognize Kosovo’s independence. Switzerland is proud of the well-integrated community of Kosovars who have come to Switzerland. The contribution of Kosovars to the success of the football team is only a small proof of this. Since 1998 Switzerland has been present and Kosovo has been a priority country until today for sustainable economic development and access to the main developments such as health… My country will continue with its commitments in the field of security in Kosovo and the region by having more than 200 thousand Swiss soldiers in KFOR”, he said.
After the meeting with Konjufca, Nussbaumer said that the discussions between them were focused on the dynamic relations between the two countries.
“We had a fruitful meeting with the Speaker of the Assembly of Kosovo. Our discussions have highlighted the dynamic and powerful relations and cooperation between Kosovo and Switzerland between our two parliaments… Kosovo and Switzerland have also cooperated in the field of parliamentary diplomacy. The technical cooperation between the Assembly of Kosovo and the parliamentary services of Switzerland has been a success story and will continue to develop in various fields. I welcomed the exchange of expertise between our two parliaments”, said Nussbaumer.
The president of the Swiss National Council, Eric Nussbaumer, has announced that he will make other visits, including KFOR.
