At his first official meeting with EU Ambassador to Montenegro Oana Cristina Popa, Minister of Finance Novica Vukovic stated that the Government would be fully committed to achieving its strategic goal to accelerate the pace of accession to the European Union (EU).
Popa underlined the importance of the role played by the Ministry of Finance at this crucial moment for the process of Montenegro’s accession to the EU.
According to a press release issued by the Ministry, she conveyed the EU’s expectation for Montenegro to capitalize on the current momentum of enlargement policy to implement key reforms necessary for expediting the EU accession process.
She added that the EU was ready to provide substantial technical and financial support, including assistance through the Growth Plan for the Western Balkans.
Vukovic said that he was aware of the role that the Ministry of Finance played in the EU accession process, considering its involvement in the majority of the negotiating chapters.
He stated that, in this context, he would make every effort to expedite the economic dialogue with the EU at all levels, enabling the full engagement of internal institutional capacities and fostering mutual collaboration among institutions.
