TIRANA, March 6/ATA/ The Municipality of Saranda has won the “Green Destinations” bronze award at the international tourism fair ITB Berlin 2025.
Minister of Tourism and Environment Mirela Kumbaro, who is in Berlin, Germany together with Mayor of Saranda Oltion Çaçi, wrote in a post in the social media that, “Saranda of beaches that was also transformed into Saranda of Christmas markets, is now considered a model of a green destination in Berlin”.
“The Municipality of Saranda has won the “Green Destinations” bronze award at ITB Berlin, passing over 100 sustainability filters as a reward for its commitment to creating a sustainable model and year-round hospitality offer”, emphasized Kumbaro.
Saranda participated in one of the most important competitions organized by ITB Berlin for green and sustainable destinations and is one of the three winners of these awards.
On his part, Mayor Çaçi highlighted the fact that, “We met more than 100 criteria when Saranda was selected to be one of the destinations for this award. We received the third prize, but next year it makes us compete for the first prize”.
“This award confirms our city’s commitment to responsible tourism, waste management, nature and climate protection. An achievement that motivates us to continue towards a greener future”, emphasized Çuçi. Albania’s participation in ITB Berlin aims to present Albania’s tourism brand in a dignified manner to 5600 exhibitors and 1300 business representatives at ITB Berlin, while for a transparent process, there was also cast a draw to determine the positioning of tour operators at the Albanian stand.
