Italy’s tourism sector in 2023 has built on the strong recovery registered last year and has finally returned to the level of business of 2019, the last year before travel restrictions were imposed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, according to a new study by the Travel Innovation Observatory of Milan Polytechnic’s School of Management, which ANSA has had an exclusive preview of.
The study said the growth was driven by eCommerce, accounting for 16.9 billion euros of revenue in the transport sector (71% of total spending) and 19.4 billion in the hospitality sector (54% of the total).
