Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani said Thursday that, while Israel had hit civilians in its war against Hamas in Gaza, it had not committed genocide.
“Genocide is something else,” Tajani told Rai radio when asked about Thursday’s hearing at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in the Hague on allegations that Israel is committing genocide in Gaza.
“Here there is an attack that hits the civilian population.
“We have said in every way that we do not agree with attacks on the population.
“We continue to invite Israel not to go beyond the limits of a just reaction to defeat “(But) one cannot forget what happened on October 7, when Israeli citizens were taken one-by-one with unimaginable violence”.
