International folklore festival brings performers from across Europe to Albanian city of Durrës

TIRANA, June 23 /ATA/ – Folk dance and music groups from several
European countries gathered in the Albanian coastal city of Durrës for
the opening of the international “Durrës Fest” folklore festival,
organisers said on Tuesday.

The festival, organised by the World Festival Association (WOFA), has
brought together dozens of ensembles, orchestras and dance groups from
across the region and beyond, showcasing traditional music, costumes
and folk dances.

Performers from Ukraine, Türkiye, Moldova, Latvia and Montenegro took
part in the opening evening, presenting cultural traditions from their
respective countries in front of local residents and visitors.

Held in Durrës’ central Freedom Square, the festival is aimed at
promoting cultural exchange and international cooperation through
music and dance.

Organisers said this year’s edition features broader international
participation than in previous years, reinforcing Durrës’ role as a
regional destination for cultural events during the summer tourist
season.

The festival is scheduled to continue through October, with dozens of
performances planned in public venues across the city as part of a
wider programme of cultural activities for residents and tourists.
