TIRANA, July 14 /ATA/ – Albania’s employment rate edged up by 3% in 2022, while the unemployment rate for the population aged 15 to 74 years old fell by 0.6 percentage points, the National Institute of Statistics, INSTAT, said on Thursday.
According to data on the INSTAT’s Labour Report for 2022, the labour force is estimated to be 1,457,959 persons, with males accounting for 53.7 % of the labour force and females 46.3 %.
Employment is estimated at 1,298,380 persons, from which males account for 54.0 % and females 46.0 %.
A total of 159,579 people are estimated to be unemployed, of which 52.0 % are men and 48.0 % are women.
According to the report, the official unemployment rate for the population aged 15 year and more was 10.9 %. For men the official unemployment rate was 10.6 %, while for women it was 11.0 %.
The average monthly gross wage for an employee in Albania is 61,898 ALL. Compared to 2021, the average monthly gross wage for an employee in Albania increased by 8.23 %.
The service and agricultural sectors have the highest share of employed with respectively 44.2% and 33.9 % of the total employment.
