The Chess Federation of Kosovo held the individual championship for the youth age groups, a competition that highlighted the great talent of many young people involved in this sport.
Although all participants were under 18 years old, the competition was of high quality and featured duels that brought great adrenaline.
The biggest novelty of this championship was that, for the first time, the youngest champion of this sport at the national level was announced — Mal Berisha, who is only five and a half years old, as reported by KosovaPress.
At the closing of the championship, the Director of Sports in the Municipality of Prishtina, Kushtrim Mushica, said that soon the sport of chess will have its own hall where all championships and other activities will be held continuously.
Meanwhile, the President of the Chess Federation, Armend Budima, confirmed that the champions emerging from this individual championship will be the ones to represent Kosovo in the European and World championships to be held during this year.
“What is very important is that in this championship we have the novelty of having the youngest champion Kosovo has ever had. He is Mal Berisha, who at five and a half years old is declared champion for the youth age groups. Besides Mal, I congratulate all the winners on their championship titles, and all champions will represent Kosovo in the European and World competitions to be held this year,” said Budima.
