Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – At a meeting with Minister of Tourism Simonida Kordic, Hungarian Ambassador to Montenegro Jozsef Negyesi said that Hungary was interested in investments and projects in the fields of tourism and infrastructure.
He added that Montenegro must leverage EU support and that Hungary would be its partner in the EU accession process, provided that all benchmarks for closing negotiating chapters had been met.
Kordic thanked Hungary for its continuous support on Montenegro’s path to the EU, noting that there was potential for even closer cooperation between the two countries.
“Montenegro and Hungary have exceptionally good bilateral relations and very good cooperation. Your EU presidency is very important to us. While our economic relations are already strong, there is room for further intensification of activities, particularly in tourism,” said Kordic.
The two officials concluded that the EU was open to enlargement and that Montenegro must seize the moment and become the next member of the European family, with Hungary’s support.
Negyesi also mentioned that Montenegro was attractive to Hungarian tourists and underlined the importance of improving both air and road infrastructure.
