Greece, UK sign MoU to collaborate on tourism sector

Greece and the United Kingdom signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in London to cooperate on tourism.  The MoU was signed by Greek Minister of Tourism Olga Kefalogianni and her British counterpart, Stephanie Peacock.

According to a statement, it is the first formal agreement on tourism between the two countries, establishing a new framework for strategic collaboration. The MoU has a five-year duration with an option for automatic renewal. It relates to joint initiatives in sustainable tourism development, investments, innovation and digitalisation, tourism and professional training, and the exchange of technical know-how and best practices. Particular emphasis is placed on developing niche tourism, such as gastronomy, wine, and mountain tourism, as well as agrotourism. It also foresees a joint working group to monitor the MoU’s implementation and the expansion of the two countries’ collaboration.

It should be noted that the United Kingdom is one of Greece’s top source tourism markets, with a rising trend in terms of travel receipts and visitor numbers, particularly outside the peak times. In the period from January to April 2026, data showed that receipts had more than doubled and arrivals had risen by 50%, compared with the corresponding period in 2025.
