On the 27th anniversary of the death of the Albanian humanist, Mother Teresa, it was requested that bridges of understanding and dialogue leading to peace be created in Kosovo.
In the mass held to honor the work and life of St. Mother Teresa, which was held in the Cathedral that bears her name, many citizens were present.
The archbishop of Tivar, Rrok Gjonlleshaj, had come from Tivar to Kosovo to mark this day, who emphasized that peace is not the absence of war, but the presence of justice and love for each other.
Gjonlleshaj emphasized that it is enough to follow the example of Mother Teresa to stay close to those in need.
“Mother Teresa calls us to be builders of peace and unity, she reminds us not to look only at our differences, but to look for what unites us. Peace is not simply the absence of war but the presence of justice, love and respect for each other. In a country like Kosovo with its rich and challenging history it is important to remember the words of Mother Teresa if we want true peace we must start loving, let’s start here and now in this holy place, right in the feast of Saint Teresa, in this Cathedral, building bridges of understanding and dialogue. Let us seek unity and cooperation with all those who live on this earth regardless of their faith or affiliation. This is the way of peace that Mother Teresa teaches us”, said the archbishop of Tivar.
Archbishop Gjonlleshaj told the audience that the humanist Mother Teresa is an example from whom everyone should be inspired.
“Let us be inspired by her example and reflect on how we can serve more, and give more. How can we be help and support for those around us who need our help and support, we must also remember the inevitable need to be aware of the need of others…. She saw her mission as a way to serve Christ in the weakest people, she knew that her love for people was a reflection of God’s love for all of us and in every person she met she saw the face of Christ”, said Gjonlleshaj.
The Archbishop of Tivar, Rrok Gjonlleshaj, in this commemoration and honoring Mass for Mother Teresa, said that she was a link of love and kindness.
“Mother’s role is elevated to the most sublime level thanks to motherhood. It traverses the deepest dimension of life, being a link of love, kindness, gentleness, forgiveness, mercy, compassion, sacrifice, pain, suffering and service… In a world that often seems divided, where wars, hatreds, and poverty is challenging us every day, Mother Teresa reminds us of the transformative power of love every day in the streets of our cities in our homes, in our workplaces we have the opportunity to choose love over hate, kindness over indifference, and service to others over selfishness”, he said.
Today in Kosovo, the Day of Humanism in Kosovo is also being marked, a decision which was taken by the Government of Kosovo on September 5, 2022 as a sign of respect and commemoration by the Republic of Kosovo for the Albanian humanist, Anjezë Gonxhe Bojaxhiu, known as Mother Teresa.
