Foreign Ministry launches annual scholarship programme offered by Romania to foreign citizens from non-EU countries

Bucharest, Jan 17 /Agerpres/ – The Foreign Affairs Ministry (MAE) on Tuesday launched the annual scholarship programme offered by Romania to foreign citizens from non-EU countries for the academic year 2024-2025.

The programme is run through the Foreign Affairs Ministry and aims to develop and deepen long-term bilateral relations with the students’ countries of origin, as well as to promote Romanian higher education institutions more effectively at the global level, according to a MAE press release sent to AGERPRES.

Individual applications of candidates can be uploaded on the online platform between 16 January and 16 March, with the results of the selection to be announced around 15 July. More details on eligibility requirements, levels of studies covered and documents required for submitting applications can be acquired by visiting www.studyinromania.gov.ro, scholarships.studyinromania.gov.ro or the MAE website, the section of scholarships offered to foreign citizens by the Romanian state.

For the previous academic year, more than 50,000 applications for 500 scholarships were submitted on the platform.

“Foreign students represent a bridge between Romania and their countries of origin and I am convinced that, in addition to facilitating the professional training of their future intellectual elite, the success of this programme in recent years is also a model of good practice in the collective effort to improve access to education globally,” secretary of state for institutional relations Janina Sitaru is quoted in the press release as saying.
