The Specialist Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Kosovo in cooperation with the Kosovo Police, more specifically the War Crimes Directorate, has arrested five people suspected of the criminal offense “War Crimes”.
“As part of this action, by order of the Specialist Prosecutor, the persons with the initials: D.C., D.N., N.S., S.J., M.Sh., were detained, with the reasonable suspicion that the same, in co-perpetration with other unidentified members of this group , armed and dressed in camouflage uniforms and irregular uniforms of the Serbian police or army, on 05.04.1999, in the early hours of the morning, they had undertaken an action in the villages of Inatoc (Kokaj), Llovcë, Pogragjë and Uglar, where they had deliberately killed, wounded, burned alive Albanian civilian victims, taken hostages, violated, beaten, ill-treated, tortured physically and mentally, looted, destroyed the properties of Albanians and burned them, expelled the Albanian civilian population, destroyed and abused cultural and religious objects, which are actions that are sanctioned according to local laws, customs of war and the Geneva International Conventions and Additional Protocols”, the announcement of the Prosecutor’s Office states.
The Specialist Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Kosovo has announced that it will take further legal procedural actions for the above-mentioned persons, while it will continue with the investigation of this criminal case.
