First-ever international flight for medical transport using MoI helicopter

Skopje, 6 February 2024 (MIA) – Additional Deputy Minister of Interior Mitko Bojmacaliev, Public Security Bureau Director Sasho Tasevski, and “September 8” General Hospital Director Hristijan Kostov attended early Tuesday the departure of the first-ever international flight for medical transport using a Ministry of Interior helicopter.

A patient from Skopje was transported to Vienna, the Ministry of Interior said in a press release.

“This humane mission not only demonstrates the cooperation between the ministries of interior and health towards improving services for citizens, but also highlights the significance of integrating modern technologies and resources in rescue and medical operations,” said Deputy Minister Bojmacaliev.

He said the use of the helicopter represents significant progress in national capabilities to provide medical assistance at highly inaccessible places and to patients who need urgent transport to other health institutions.

“Congratulations to our teams for the thorough preparation and the cooperation between the MoI and the hospital staff, thus reinforcing our first response capacities as a country. Let me extend a gratitude to the government of Slovenia and the country’s ministry of interior, which has provided a significant portion of this medical equipment,” added Bojmacaliev.
