Bar, (MINA-BUSINESS) – The ferry boar AF Mia has successfully docked in the port of Bar and will now sail from Ancona to Bar twice a week.
According to a press release issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, this is a successful start of a collaboration that is the result of months of negotiations between the Government, led by Prime Minister Milojko Spajic, and the companies Barska Plovidba and Adria Ferries.
“The efficiency and excellent cooperation are evident from the fact that the ferry service has already been launched for this tourist season,” stated the press release.
During the event held onboard the ferry, which has the capacity to transport passengers, motor vehicles, and cargo, Spajic stated that in this was just the beginning of connecting Montenegro with the European Union (EU), “because our integration will remain only on paper unless we physically connect with Italy and other countries”.
A significant contribution to the efficient realization of this idea was made by the Italian ambassador Andreina Marsella and Adria Ferries officials led by Alberto Rosi.
“Geographical proximity means nothing without proper connectivity. That is why I am very glad that the importance of restoring the ferry service has been recognized from the beginning. I truly believe it is necessary for people from Italy and Montenegro to be much more in contact, so we must strengthen direct connections,” said Marsella.
Rosi stated that they were very eager to find a solution to all open issues because they saw the great desire of the Prime Minister and the Government for this connection to work.
The ceremony was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Srdjan Pavicevic, Minister of Transport and Maritime Affairs Filip Radulovic, director and members of the board of Barska Plovidba, representatives of the Port of Bar, and Adria Ferries.
