It was concluded at a meeting Montenegrin Minister of Finance Aleksandar Damjanovic had with representatives of the Moroccan government that there was potential for closer cooperation between Montenegro and Morocco in the fields of transportation, tourism, and energy.
During the Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank in Marrakech, Damjanovic met with the Moroccan Minister of Budget Fouzi Lekjaa who proposed the establishment of a working group to define a cooperation programme between Montenegro and Morocco.
It was concluded at a meeting with Minister Leila Benali, who is responsible for energy transition and sustainable development, that cooperation should be strengthened in a number of areas, particularly in the fields of energy and energy transition, as well as sustainable development.
According to a press release issued by the Ministry of Finance, Benali proposed that the two countries launch a formal initiative to sign memoranda of cooperation in the mentioned areas, emphasizing that this collaboration would also enhance regional cooperation.
She underlined the importance of identifying activities of mutual interest that could be jointly financed and implemented.
Representatives of the Moroccan government and Damjanovic agreed that the existing cooperation between the two countries should be further encouraged through mutual visits, during which the foundations of future collaboration would be formalized.
