Education focuses on financial literacy and importance of saving

In anticipation of Savings Week, observed during the first week of November, The Association of Banks (UBCG) will have educational visits to elementary and high schools, and universities.

“In addition to the importance of saving, students will learn about the concept of money, and depending on their age, will be introduced to banking terminology, from transactional accounts to interest rates,” UBCG stated in a press release.

This will also be an opportunity to distribute gifts donated by Montenegrin banks in promotion of Savings Week.

“The intention is to emphasize the importance of combating wastefulness, and especially to highlight how crucial financial education is for children and youth, as the future of every nation. Financial literacy is one of the skills that is highly important and will undoubtedly play a significant role throughout our lives,” the press release stated.

UBCG reminded that Savings Week, which was originally established on 31 October 1924 at the first International Savings Bank Congress in Milan, is promoted worldwide every year on October 30.
