The European Capital of Culture Timisoara 2023 has one of the best European festivals, after CODRU festival established itself in the top 10 of the most appreciated events of its kind in Europe.
For the second consecutive year, CODRU festival is in the top 10 Festivals in Europe – Medium Festivals category, succeeding in putting Timisoara on the map of the best festivals in Europe. This award is a recognition of the best festival with a capacity between 10,000 and 39,999 participants, a press release from CODRU Festival reads.
The event reached its 13th edition this year.
“We are honored that we can keep Timisoara in the European Festival Awards, especially in such an important year for the city. The nomination motivates us to move forward and become better from year to year,” the managing director of the CODRU festival, Victor Balaniuc, said.
This year’s CODRU Festival brought together over 70,000 people. Around the five stages set up at Padurea Bistra near Timisoara, the festival-goers sang and danced to the music of their favorite artists from all genres, from heavy metal, reggae, hip hop, folk to trot. Tarja Turunen, Parov Stelar, Alborosie & Shenghen Clan, Surorile Osoianu & Lupii lui Calacea, Alternosfera, Subcarpati, and many other artists brought to the end of this summer the energy that Timisoara deserves.
CODRU Festival is part of the national cultural program Timisoara – European Capital of Culture in 2023 and is co-financed by the Timis County Council through the TimCultura 2023 programme, Ghiroda Commune and Mosnita Noua commune.
